(They Also Mourn Who Do Not Wear Black (For the Homeless in Muskegon)、For the Widows in Paradise, For the Fatherless in Ypsilanti);还以‘All Good Naysayers, Speak Up! Or Forever Hold Your Peace!’ To Michigan!’、‘Detroit, Lift Up Your Weary Head! (Rebuild! Restore! Reconsider!)

Sufjan Stevens:

Home Page (点击) http://image.com.com/mp3/images/artist/pic200/drp500/p567/p56791uug9r.jpg A singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Sufjan Stevens started his venture in the music world as a member of Marzuki, a folk-rock band based in Holland, MI. Following the release of two full-length albums with the group, Stevens decided to go solo in late 1999, investing fully on a career waiting to shine by itself. During the subsequent months, Stevens moved to New York City, where he continued dedicating himself full-time to his solo creations. Sun Came, his debut album, showed up in 2000, confirming his superior musical commands and original sound options. Mixing pop/rock tones with complex instrumentation, using artsy and sparking melodies, Stevens delivered a unique set of songs, collected within the most thrilling dominions of alternative pop. The promotion of the disc included playing on the road with the Danielson Famile, with whom he regularly works with. Enjoy Your Rabbit, his second album, hit record stores in 2001, underlining once more his unusual instrumental commands and superior conception techniques. In addition to his solo work, Stevens also offered his contribution to the album 1942 for Soul-Junk, on which he again participated amply as a multi-instrumental musician. During the following times, while preparing an edition of a new collection of songs, Stevens continued appearing on several benefit compilation discs, including Seen/Unseen, which also included artists such as Frank Black, Giant Sand, or 16 Horsepower. 2003 saw the release of Greetings From Michigan: The Great Lakes State, a fifteen track conceptual piece, produced by Stevens--he played over twenty instruments--that placed his home state under the writer's microscope. In 2004, Stevens put out Seven Swans, this time produced by Danielson Famile mastermind, Daniel Smith. ~ Mario Mesquita Borges, All Music Guide
