In each hour-long episode, Grylls teaches viewers the skills needed to succeed in urban survival situations that could arise without warning, from escaping a high-rise apartment fire to fending off a shark attack to escaping out of a sinking car. "Bear Grylls demonstrates resourcefulness in the face of adversity," said Clark Bunting, president and general manager of Discovery Channel and president of Science Channel. "Grylls teaches the audience at home that you don't have to be a Navy Seal or a stuntman to survive these intense situations - you just have to be prepared, use basic common sense, and learn how to not panic." Relying solely on advice and instruction from experts, Grylls escapes a multitude of deadly circumstances, proving that anyone equipped with the right knowledge can survive even in the worst of scenarios.
