Released by Mute Records on March 17, 1986, it further cemented their darkening sound that Alan Wilder initially hinted towards on their album Construction Time Again. It is considered by many to be an unusually successful combination of electropop and gothic rock. Black Celebration is the Depeche Mode album that has the most songs with Martin Gore on lead vocals: "A Question of Lust", "Sometimes", "It Doesn't Matter Two", and "World Full of Nothing". The remaining tracks are sung by David Gahan. The history of "Fly On The Windscreen" is quite interesting: It was already released in multiple versions on the "It's Called A Heart" single as a B-side. The band decided that the song was too good and it might be too easily forgotten if they didn't release it on an album. So they redid the song, adding new effects and reworking the original effects, especially making it more stereo sounding, and released it as "Final" on this album. It was then later performed live and in 1993 on the "Devotional" tour, given a slight hip hop edge to it.
