It’s not because I have some bias towards traditional, but because the guy was really good at it. The entertainment industry has been walking away from traditional materials for a decade now, but it’s still not a common thing to see someone do life painting from an actual model. That is, of course, unless you’re in Kei’s class. And now you can be! In this demonstration, recorded from a one and a half hour life painting session, Kei covers all the basics to his approach. If you want to get started with digital life painting, there is no better place to start. (And that’s not just marketing talk… I looked around.) p.s. His work has a strong traditional figurative background. He works at Massive Black as a Concept artist, where he sits in a corner and laughs at everyone from behind his wacom tablet.
