一直以来都销声匿迹的SLG游戏《海商王》系列》最近终于再度出现在了玩家的面前，而且发行商Kalypso Media带来了好消息是，这个系列的第三部作品将在明年登陆PC、Xbox 360和PS3平台。 在《海商王3》中，玩家将身处17世纪的加勒比海，展开自己的冒险。你可以选择成为一个正义的船长，或是邪恶的海盗，又或者唯利是图的商人。在那个时代，英国、法国、荷兰以及西班牙的海军都希望能够成为海上的霸主并且不断的扩张着自己的殖民地。 单人战役包括两条不同的路线：冒险和经商。冒险路线中，你将首先从征服海军开始，此后根据不同的表现或许会获得不同的名声，比如“海盗、赏金猎人、城管”一类的；经商路线中，你必须通过各种经济手段来构筑自己的商业帝国，为此你需要“设立贸易航路，建造工厂和发展城市”。 自由模式中，玩家可以将上述的两条路线结合起来，为了追求财富和力量而不断迎接各种挑战。除此之外，游戏也紧跟潮流的加入了多人模式。在多人模式里，玩家将可以和其他玩家进行社交、贸易甚至是战斗。
