Harsh, perhaps, but after the bright opener 'Saint' from Portuguese crew Sloppy Joe, in which sharp guitars and brass promise a lively show, the performance soon proves itself to be dated and ridden with clichÈs. There are few words strong enough to condemn the use of the lyrics 'Six little monsters, walking down the street' especially if these particular monsters have a 'funky beat'. 'Love Roots' in contrast, helps sooth the nerves set on edge by all those little monsters. The overall effect is a little flattening, with too many references to burning fires and rhymes which are used too obviously for the sake of rhyme. None of this would be of particular issue, but essentially there is no real kick to the album, that element so vital to successful ska and Marta Ren's smooth vocals do not seem to lend themselves to the music, but to something altogether gentler. Amusingly, the 'hidden' track in which the Flic Flac reference is revealed is one of the best on the album, but why hide this away? Flic Flac Circus has its moments, but too few, and if you want to find the best in it you have to pick it out from in-between the bland ('Blue Star'), the stale ('Burnin' Ship'), and the aurally offensive ('Six Little Monsters'). 专辑曲目: 01.
