Greenwich based dapper six-piece Lucky Soul will disarm you with their lush parade of Spector-tinged pop genius. Live they've a reputation for immaculate, emotive performances focused around the voice of the very beautiful Ali Howard which, with its interplay of fragility and power, brings to mind Sandie Shaw, Dusty Springfield, Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval and the Ronettes' Veronica Bennett. Their debut single, a limited ed’ 7” 500 pressing released on their own label Ruffa Lane in March 2006 made it as ‘Track of the Week’ in the Guardian and that was the very first review. The second single ‘Lips Are Unhappy', again released on Ruffa Lane as a ltd ed' 7” in June 2006 had fans such as the DJ Bethan at Radio 1 claiming “this is number 1 for me” and reached number 12 in the UK indie charts, was in Rough Trade’s Top 10 and had Phil Jupitus’ on his BBC 6 Music show begging for an interview. Their third release ‘Aint Never Been Cool’ EP (out Jan 15th 2007) again won over Radio 1 with the DJ Colin Murray proclaiming “That is sure to win the Mercury Music Prize in 2007” “ that there is love” and proceeded to play it almost every day on his show for three weeks. The NME marked Lucky Soul on their‘Radar’ section as ones to watch in 2007 and the Guardian devoted the back page of their Friday Film and music section to an interview with Lucky Soul. 专辑曲目: 01.
