Hip Hop and Soul group "m-flo" is made up of 3 members who were friends while at the International School; Japanese composer taku, Korean rapper verbal, now living in Boston, and Japanese-Columbian Soul Diva lisa. taku and verbal began performing in the Rap band style while in high school. Later,
while he was an exchange student in LA, taku began composing and working as a DJ, and upon his return to Japan formed "LOVE SOUL." Meanwhile, as an exchange student in Boston, verbal was pursuing the active creation of RAP, etc., so that each was building up his own musical style.
In 1998, as taku continued working for Remix and creating his own original songs, he obtained the vocal track of "The Way We Were," and featured verbal's rap arranged in an R&B style. This collaboration led to the formation of m-flo, and then side by side with the start of this spirited activity he featured lisa, who had been working as a vocalist for Ram Jam World, etc., and they began recording
.The mixture of taku's groovy mellow tracks, verbal's uplifting Rap in mixed Japanese and English, and lisa's sweet voice, established their soul-groove sound. Presently, taku and lisa are in Japan, while verbal is in Boston, and they continue to actively create sound pre-production over the Internet. m-flo's sound is being created in collaboration with Harumi Tsuyusaki, SKAPARA and Kasegi cider, as sound producers, and with the participation of Todd Okawa, known for his session work, as well as DJ Koji (now in Pittsburgh), and DJ Horii (as supporting DJ).
