His debut release, Confessional, was released in August of 2006. Album single "No Promises" was featured on the soundtrack of the popular film Nynne, giving Rice his first taste of powerful mainstream media. The track was an enormous Danish radio hit, put on heavy rotation for better than six months. Fueled by follow-up singles "Homeless Heart" and "Can't Say I'm Sorry," Confessional earned Rice his first gold record.
