Mary Frances Penick (born on December 30, 1931), better known as Skeeter Davis, was an American country music singer who sang crossover pop music songs including 1962's "The End of the World". The song was written by Arthur Kent and Sylvia Dee;after being recorded by Skeeter Davis, it enjoyed international success in the 1960s.
