The band then wrote new material and recorded 'Spun Forth As Dark Nets' in the winter of 2004 and 2005, with Psycroptic guitarist Joe Haley producing and Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Aborted, Mnemic) mastering the album. This, their debut album, will be released by Dutch label Neurotic Records this month. I was really pleasantly surprised when I heard 'Spun Forth As Dark Nets' for the first time. The musicianship of these two Tasmanian devils is amazing. The rhythms put together sound so well thought out and intricate that one can truly sink into a trance-like condition in many parts of this album. The dark atmosphere created by the mesmerizing guitar riffs and constantly rolling drums are a thunderous display of technical yet aggressive black metal. The vocals on this album are really strong and diverse. Ruins have a sound that is somewhere between Satyricon and Immortal but Ruins are second to none. Their sound is very full and cleanly produced, which makes this album a true pleasure to listen to.
